The Bogs of Ireland are being decimated by Climate Change. Over thousands of years the bodies of prehistoric people, forrest's and dwellings, were subsumed into the bogs and preserved by the unique
landscape, which acted as a sinkhole to capture carbon from the atmosphere. The commercial excavation of the bogs for the extraction of fossil fuels is not only destroying a beautiful natural resource, but is contributing to Global Warming.
My project imagines the awakening of Bog Women from their disturbed graves and their confused wanderings through a devastated landscape, which may turn out to be the precursor to a ruined Earth, unless dramatic and urgent action is taken.
